Young people experience money almost entirely in virtual form and spend it instantly. The result: a generation without any savings. So how does the Sparkasse, Europe's largest banking network, convince this age group that saving and investments are worth it? With a free horror game featuring a fully-fledged storyline that reintroduces saving to the target audience - right where they spend a lot of money already: in Fortnite, the world's most-played video game.
Casefilm
Top international developers produced the game, in which players must rescue Berta the piggy bank from Tilda, a girl who spends money
on toys rather than saving it. The mission: the Sparkasse building, where both piggy bank and savings are safe. The game launched with a comprehensive, integrated campaign that was celebrated by the community, media, and press - and playfully proved to young people that
finance and saving are anything but scary.

Top international developers produced “Schwein gehabt”, an outstanding Fortnite map that set new standards visually, audibly, and technologically. Even Germany’s most popular streamers were part of the game as characters and Easter eggs.
The task
Mission accomplished
The primary objective was to reconnect Sparkasse with a young audience that had become disengaged from the concept of finance and saving. Secondly, the campaign aimed to shift brand perception from conservative and distant to culturally relevant and modern. Finally, the work set out to drive active engagement, encouraging audiences not just to be aware of the game, but to play and enjoy it.
